AUTHOR: Jim Edwards DATE: 5/25/2004 07:18:10 AM ----- BODY: Here's my response to someone who recently asked if multi-media products were hype or real. Multi-media has been around and is here to stay... despite the fact that you're seeing (and will continue to see) a whole lot of people who know nothing about it jump on the bandwagon and start flogging it as the next greatest thing. A multi-media product is anything that's not plain text like an ebook. It can be a newsletter, like my http://www.IGottaTellYou.com It can be an irreverent RANT on just about any topic http://www.FridayNightSmackdown.com It can be a simple combination of a PDF with MP3 http://www.MortgageLoanTips.com It can be a HUGE collection of DVD's, Screen Capture Video, Print, and more http://www.TheUltimateTrafficMachine.com or it can just be a couple of CD's on a specific topic http://www.HowToGetAnythingYouWant.com But multi-media is not the niche, it's a way to provide more value faster... and in a way that can be absorbed more quickly... to ANY niche. The amazing thing (like anything) is that multi-media will fall out of favor... I'm not kidding. It's the hot topic right now, but the crowd will move on to something else here in the next few months. All the hype will die down, the knock-off artists will move on to other areas... and it's back to business as usual. The serious product creators are adopting multi-media as part of their arsenals... and it's not just making a few Camtasia Videos and calling it a "product." Like anything, it's a tool, it's not and end in and of itself... learn the use the tools correctly, and you'll smoke the competition. :-) Jim --------
